The Optimist Club of Calgary
The Optimist Club of Calgary was chartered with Optimist International in 1938. For over 70 years the Optimist Club of calgary has sponsored deserving youths in the Calgary area. They have assisted a variety of youth programs from the music and fine arts to athletics, business, community and educational programs while providing bursaries, grants and scholarships.
Essay Contests, Boys and Girls clubs, Youth Appreciation awards, church camps, anti drug programs, mentorship programs, and special youth programs are among the many worthy projects supported by Optimists.Optimist Park in South West Calgary, a project of all the Optimists in Calgary, was started over 35 years ago and has continued to grow providing a great sport facility to the city.
The Optimist club of Calgary is part of the Optimist International district which includes clubs from other parts of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Montana and Northern Wyoming.
